In spite of the success that lasers have had in the steel rule die-making industry, large format CNC routers continue to make gains and to expand the capabilities of die shops. One of the factors that is supporting this growth is the availability of a new generation of cutting tools. New grades of submicrograin cabride and tunes, proprietary coating have enabled the fabrication of innovative cutter designs that offer superior cut quality and cutting speeds that, in some applications, actually exceed that of laser cutters.
